Today the commonwealth games started. Melbourne (Host to the games) was all activity, and in the evening large crowds gathered along the banks of the Yarra river, hoping to catch a glimps of the ceremoney. Large screens were placed at tactical places along the river, to show people what was happening in the MCG.

At about 8 the ceremony started, and the Yarra lit up under the display of 72 large metal fish, which were lit by fountains of water and light. Top of the Yarra ceremony was the carrying of the torch along the floating fish, on its way to the MCG
